Membership Benefits

Over the course of our nearly 100-year history, The New England Council has established itself as the region’s premier business association for building connections – connections with fellow New Englanders, and connections with leaders in Washington, D.C., who shape the policies that impact our region’s economic wellbeing.

A Few Things That Make Us Unique Among Business Organizations

  1. Among our nearly 600 members are businesses and organizations of all types and sizes. Our members come from all six New England states and include representatives of virtually every sector of the economy. We work with these members to bring New England’s business community together to speak with a united voice on issues that affect the entire region.
  2. We have an “all-inclusive” membership model. Our members pay an annual dues fee, and there are no additional costs to attend any of the dozens of, programs, or meetings we host over the course of the year (aside from the Annual Celebration and Washington Leaders Conference). We also do not restrict the number of employees who can participate, but rather encourage members to involve as many as possible to maximize the value. We also welcome our members to invite clients or other contacts from outside your organization to participate in Council programs as your guest.
  3. The Council is one of the only regional business associations in the country that has a fully-staffed Washington, D.C. office. The Council offers a variety of events and meetings in Washington, D.C., as well as our annual Washington Leaders Conference. In addition, our Washington staff can assist you with arranging meetings with Congressional offices or federal agencies, and our office space is available for members to use while visiting the capital.
  4. We pride ourselves on personal relationships with our members. We may not be the largest business organization, but that means our staff is truly able to get to know each member and what is important to them. This allows us to tailor the membership to fit the needs and priorities of each member, and help each member maximize their membership to the fullest.

Key Benefits of Membership

Networking

Given the nature of our membership, the Council is an excellent forum for professional networking across various industries and across state lines.

Access

Because of our non-partisan approach, the Council is respected among policymakers and has forged strong relationships with the New England delegation and other key policymakers. As a result, we are able to provide our members with unparalleled access to these leaders and their staff.

Programming & Events

Over the course of each year, The New England Council hosts dozens of events – both in-person and virtual– with members of Congress, other elected and appointed officials, diplomatic representatives, policy matter experts, and Presidential candidates, all at no additional cost to our members.

Federal Policy Advocacy

Through our various industry-specific policy committees and cross-sector working groups, The New England Council develops consensus-based positions on federal policy proposals and effectively advocates on behalf of our membership.

Information & Resources

In addition to policy advocacy, the Council is also an excellent source of information on federal policy matters. Through our Weekly Washington Report, sector-specific policy updates, and various meetings and briefings, the Council helps our members stay up to date on federal policy developments.

Visibility

Through participation in Council programming and various event sponsorship opportunities, the Council is also a useful tool to help our members increase their visibility and build brand recognition in the region.
