Delta Air Lines Partners with Amazon for Faster In-Flight Wi-Fi
New England Council member Delta Air Lines has signed a deal with other member, Amazon, to deploy the tech company’s Leo satellite internet service across 500 Delta aircraft beginning in 2028, delivering speeds estimated to be three to five times faster than the airline’s current in-flight Wi-Fi.
The agreement expands on Delta’s existing partnership with Amazon Web Services and will give passengers streaming, messaging, and photo-uploading capabilities via Amazon’s low Earth orbit satellite communications network. The deal comes as U.S. airlines race to secure in-flight connectivity partnerships, with Southwest Airlines and United Airlines having signed competing agreements with Starlink. Delta is the busiest airline operating out of Boston’s Logan International Airport, flying 51,982 flights and carrying more than 5.5 million seats from Logan in 2025 alone, making the upgrade particularly significant for New England travelers.
“This agreement gives us the fastest and most cost-effective technology available to better connect the world today, and it deepens our work with a global leader that shares our ambition to build what’s next,” said Delta CEO Ed Bastian.
The New England Council commends Delta Air Lines for its continued investment in the passenger experience and its commitment to keeping New England travelers connected.
