NEC Transportation and Infrastructure Committee meets with U.S. Representative Jake Auchincloss

On October 10, 2023, the New England Council’s Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) Committee hosted a meeting with U.S. Representative Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) in Boston, Massachusetts.  Rep. Auchincloss is a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee and serves as the Ranking Member of the Coast Guard and Maritime Transportation Subcommittee, and is also a member of the Aviation Subcommittee and the Highways and Transit Subcommittee.

After speaking to a larger contingent of New England Council members at a Capitol Hill Report breakfast event, members of the Council’s T&I Committee adjourned for a more focused dialogue with Congressman Auchincloss.  Among the topics discussed were legislative endeavors to reauthorize the programs and policies of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the implementation of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act of 2021 (IIJA), Buy America provisions and waiver requirements, workforce development needs and challenges, and project planning efforts including the necessity for permitting reform.

We are grateful to Rep. Auchincloss for taking the time to meet with our members.  For more information on the Council’s Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, please contact Peter Phipps.
