MGB, Harvard, and MIT open new headquarters for joint research institute
New England Council members, Mass General Brigham, Harvard University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, have partnered to open the new headquarters for the Ragon Institute, a joint research institute in Cambridge. The new facility, located at 600 Main Street in Kendall Square, will provide additional space for research and increased sustainability.
The Ragon Institute is 15 years old and was created to bring together scientific researchers to increase understanding of the human immune system. The center’s six focuses are HIV/AIDS, global infectious diseases, emerging infectious diseases, vaccine development, basic and applied immunology, and clinical studies. The addition of the new headquarters doubles the institute’s square footage and will include outdoor green spaces and a daycare.
“Most importantly, we are excited by the work that will take place here and the global impact it will have on those who suffer from disease,” said the institute’s director, Dr. Bruce Walker.
The New England Council applauds our members’ continued work together and the completion of this vital facility.
