Delta Air Lines Celebrates 100th Anniversary

New England Council member, Delta Air Lines, Inc., celebrates its 100th anniversary this year. The leading airline company was founded on March 2, 1925.

Delta’s predecessor company, Huff Daland Dusters, started as the world’s first aerial crop-dusting firm and had the largest fleet of privately owned aircraft in the country at the time. The company then evolved into mail and passenger services and eventually became one of the country’s most trusted airline services following deregulation. Despite battling multiple challenges throughout the company’s history, such as bankruptcy and the COVID-19 pandemic, the company remains an industry leader across its network of hubs.

To celebrate its centennial birthday, Delta celebrated at the 2025 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas from January 7th to 10th. Delta’s presence at the show included a keynote speech delivered by CEO Ed Bastian at the Sphere, a new YouTube partnership announcement for in-flight entertainment, a musical performance from GRAMMY award-winning musician Lenny Kravitz, and other exciting plans for the company’s future.

“Connecting the world is something Delta has done for 100 years. And it’s because of our people. It’s because of the pilots, flight attendants and customer service agents who welcome our customers with a smile every day. The Reservations and Customer Care teams who greet every caller with a smile you can hear. The technicians who work tirelessly to maintain and upgrade our planes. The professionals who creatively plan and solve challenges in our Operations and Customer Center, in close partnership with our frontline leaders,” said Allison Ausband, Executive Vice President and Chief People Officer for Delta.

The New England Council congratulates Delta Air Lines on 100 years of service and innovation in the airline industry.
