Dana-Farber plans to hire 700 new nurses

New England Council member, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, has announced its hiring plan for the new Longwood Medical Area hospital. The institute states that it will require nearly 2,500 new employees, including 700 additional nurses.
Dana-Farber will soon be merging with neighboring institute Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center. The current partnership with Brigham and Women’s Hospital is set to expire in 2028. The expanding staff will be a part of the new $1.7 billion cancer hospital, opening in the Longwood Medical Area. Dana-Farber’s current facilities only possess 30 inpatient beds, which will be significantly expanded upon its transition to Longwood.
These proposed additions are being used to staff its proposed 300-bed hospital, said Jeanine Rundquist, executive director of the Center for Clinical and Professional Development at Dana-Farber. “If you want to be on the cutting-edge of cancer care, this is the place to be, certainly in our region, if not nationally,” Rundquist said.
The New England Council congratulates Dana-Farber on this new undertaking.
