Employers Sought for Career Exploration Event for 8th Graders from Underserved Communities

The New England Council’s Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee recently met with leadership from Junior Achievement of Northern New England to learn more about the organization’s work to close the wealth and opportunity gaps for youth in underserved communities. We learned that one of the ways that the business community can support this important work is by participating in the organization’s “JA Inspire” program later this year.

JA Inspire is a hands-on career readiness program and exploration fair for eighth-grade students throughout Boston and surrounding communities. The program encourages students to start exploring career options early through dynamic interaction activities and booth presentations. The event will be held on Friday, December 9 at the Hynes convention center in Boston, and approximately 1200 students are expected to attend.

JA is seeking employers to participate in the program, with the goal of exposing students to the widest possible array of potential career paths. If your organization is interested in learning more about this program or would like to get involved, please contact Emily Heisig or Griffin Doherty and we are happy to connect you with the team at JA.
