Tufts University Will Cover Full Tuition for Middle-Class Families

New England Counci Member, Tufts University, announced a new initiative whereby tuition will be waived for U.S. undergraduate students from households that make less than $150,000 a year, easing the financial stress of affording college. As the cost of higher education rises each year, Tufts new initiative will help thousands of its students.
This new initiative, called the “Tufts Tuition Pact,” was supported by its donors who recognize the need to address student financial challenges for middle-income families. Currently, the total cost to attend Tufts, including tuition along with housing and food, is estimated to $93,000 a year.” Tufts now joins other institutions such as Harvard and MIT as a tuition-free campus for those eligible.
In a statement, Tufts University President Sunil Kumar said, “The cost of higher education continues to be a major concern for families across the country,” Through Tuft’s’ leadership and devotion to expanding access to education during times of uncertainty, the university stated that they are “confident in our ability to meet the financial obligations of our commitment.”
The New England Council applauds Tufts University for their dedication to making their education accessible to all and looks forward to seeing what great accomplishments come as a result.
