Robinhood Hosts Financial Literacy Event in Boston

On July 20, New England Council member Robinhood and FitMoney hosted a panel discussion in Boston titled Investing in Equity Through Financial Literacy. The panel was moderated by Emmy-winning reporter for WCVB5 ABC Boston Janet Wu and featured Robinhood’s Chief Brokerage Officer Steve Quirk alongside NFL player Brandon Copeland and esteemed Boston educator Dr. Jennifer Price. Welcoming remarks and introductions were given by MA State Senator Patrick O’Connor.

The discussion focused on the need for adequate financial literacy programs for children and young adults, the long-term financial benefits of providing such programs, and ways that public policy could help shape these programs for the future.

Robinhood Markets’ Steve Quirk said, “Financial literacy is about taking a step towards legacy building. The opportunity to positively impact families, communities, and generations is a huge motivator for our customers. Through financial education, individuals find the confidence to develop their own personal finance skills and begin to view investing as an attainable tool for wealth creation.”

The New England Council commends both Robinhood and FitMoney for their commitment to financial education throughout the New England region. Learn more about Robinhood’s work to promote financial literacy here.
