COURTESY RHODE ISLAND COLLEGE

New England Council member, Rhode Island College, has recently named Douglas S. Alexander as the inaugural director of the school’s Institute for Cybersecurity & Emerging Technologies. Prior to this position, Alexander was the director of community engagement and government relations at OSHEAN Inc.

Alexander’s job experience also includes numerous positions in teaching, systems engineering, cybersecurity, and technology administration.  He is also the co-founder of the New Harbor Group, a cybersecurity workforce development organization. In his new role, Alexander will oversee the budget, planning, and organization of its projects.

“I have worked with technology for my entire career, but at heart I’ll always be a teacher,” said Douglas S. Alexander, Director of the Institute. “Creating the Institute’s role in educating the Rhode Island community is the biggest and most engaging challenge I’ve ever tackled. There is so much good work to be done.”

The New England Council would like to congratulate Douglas S. Alexander on this important new role.
