Providence to build the future of offshore wind

Vineyard Offshore

The team at Vineyard Offshore, a New England Council member, has led the development of Vineyard Wind 1—the nation’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm—with great enthusiasm and expertise and most particularly, a commitment to the community.  Now, the company is introducing Vineyard Wind 2, which is being manufactured in Providence, RI, and will deliver enough clean electricity to New England to power 650,000 homes.

Vineyard Offshore is a local company that aims to help the New England Region achieve its climate goals. The new project, which builds on Vineyard Wind 1, will reduce carbon pollution in New England by 2.1 million tons per year while improving public health through reducing air pollutants. With manufacturing in Providence, RI, operations, maintenance, and construction across MA, and electricity delivered to Montville, CT, Vineyard Wind 2 is “regionally collaborative and cements New England as the national leader in offshore wind.”

“Offshore wind in New England is already a success story, and this is just the beginning. We’re making history, building the next great American energy industry right here in New England,” according to The Providence Journal.

The New England Council commends the team at Vineyard Offshore for its innovative climate efforts.
