Providence College dedicates Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences

New England Council member, Providence College, recently dedicated its nursing center to Ben Mondor, an industrialist and philanthropist best known for his ownership of the Pawtucket Red Sox baseball team. Mondor received an honorary degree from the college in 2024. The building opened for classes at the start of the spring semester in January 2025.
The fully complete, 150,000-square-foot Ben Mondor Center for Nursing and Health Sciences is the new academic home for programs in nursing, health sciences, and health policy & management. Some of the center’s features include a clinical simulation suite that replicates a hospital floor, complete with mannequin patients in hospital beds, specialized examination rooms, and a nurse’s station. Another feature is the facility’s three anatomy and physiology laboratories, each with classroom space and anatomy tables using life-size, interactive, 3D displays of virtual human cadavers. The new features will allow students to gain better hands-on experience during their studies.
At the dedication event hosted by the college, U.S. Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) praised the school for helping to address healthcare workforce shortages: “The leadership team at Providence College understood the profound need in our community and across the country, and they chose to take an active role in addressing this by opening the School of Nursing and Health Sciences. … With this state-of-the-art facility, PC students seeking a career in health services will have a true home, complete with new laboratories and clinical simulation and research facilities.”
The New England Council congratulates Providence College on its new nursing program and facility.
