P&G Gillette unveils plans for waterfront park campus in South Boston

New England Council member, P&G Gillette, recently revealed plans for a redevelopment of its 31-acre Gillette campus in South Boston along the southern edge of the channel. The 5.7 million-square-foot overhaul will include 1,800 housing units across nine buildings, 3.5 million square feet of commercial office and laboratory space, 200,000 square feet of shops and restaurants, as well as 250,000 square feet for hotel space, and a 6.5-acre public park along the channel.

These new plans come alongside the company’s effort to revamp its two Massachusetts sites, as it relocates its manufacturing operations out of South Boston to prepare for the 20-building redevelopment. The bulk of manufacturing services will shift to Gilette’s other local property in Andover, MA. The plan now awaits approval and feedback from the Boston Planning Department, and the entire project could take a decade or more to be fully completed.

“We’ve long been proud of our heritage here in Massachusetts. We’re excited about the legacy we could leave behind through this plan,” said Kara Buckley, vice president of community affairs at Gillette.

The New England Council congratulates P&G Gillette on this redevelopment, which will strengthen the company’s Massachusetts presence and enrich the surrounding neighborhood.
