New England Council Selects 12 Non-Profit Organizations to Host Second Class of New England Council Fellows
BOSTON, MA – The New England Council, the nation’s oldest regional business association, has selected 12 non-profit organizations – two in each New England state – to host the second class of New England Council Fellows during the summer of 2026.
The New England Council Fellows program was established in 2025 to commemorate the 100th Anniversary of the Council’s founding. In the program’s inaugural year, the Council selected six organizations—one in each New England state—and provided them with $5,000 to support the hiring of a summer fellow to support their charitable mission. Building on the program’s success in its first year, in 2026, the Council has expanded the program, doubling the number of fellowship positions.
The Council’s Fellowship Advisory Committee – comprised of 14 members of the Council’s Board of Directors – recently selected the following organizations to host NEC Fellows this summer:
Connecticut
Maine
Massachusetts
New Hampshire
Rhode Island
Vermont
“The goals of the program are twofold: to support charitable organizations in our region, and to help provide young adults with valuable work experience to prepare them for future career success,” said James T. Brett, President & CEO of the Council. “We were pleased that the first year of the program was such a success, and were thrilled to be able to expand the program this year. The organizations selected this year each fulfill an important mission in our region, and we look forward to meeting the young people they select to serve as 2026 NEC Fellows.”
The 12 organizations were selected from a pool of over 70 applicants. In the coming weeks, the selected organizations will select young adults who will serve as New England Council Fellows this summer. The host organizations will have discretion to hire a fellow whose background and experience best meets the current needs of their organization. The Summer 2026 NEC Fellows will also be invited to attend any New England Council events that take place throughout the year to network and have the opportunity to hear from speakers including members of Congress, Governors, and other policy leaders.
