New England Council hosts “New England Innovates: Early detection of disease”

On Friday, April 13, 2026, the New England Council hosted the latest installment of the New England Innovates series, featuring insights into the challenges and opportunities surrounding early disease detection in the healthcare sector. The conversation focused on how developments in screening are revolutionizing treatment timelines and outcomes for patients while reducing healthcare costs. The conversation also focused on the role of the federal government and highlighted possible solutions for Congressional consideration, including the recently signed MCED legislation.

The event featured keynote remarks from Congressman McGovern and was followed by a 60-minute panel discussion with regional experts.  The panel was moderated by Andrea Hechavarria, who serves as President & CEO of New Hampshire Life Sciences, and featured insight from

  • Lindsay Hanson, Chief Marketing Officer, John Hancock & Global Head of Behavioral Insurance, Manulife
  • Maureen Japha, Associate Vice President, Corporate Affairs Neuroscience at Eli Lilly and Company
  • Jennifer Malinowski, MS, PhD – Sr. Director, Market Access and Medical Policy, Genetic Testing, LabCorp
  • Dr. David Ryan – President of the MGB Cancer Institute
  • Phylicia Woods Lisiak, J.D. MSW, Director of Government Affairs, Hologic
