NEC Housing Working Group meets with Juana Matias, New England Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

On May 1, 2024, the New England Council’s newly formed Housing Working Group met with Ms. Juana Matias, the New England Regional Administrator for the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). During the meeting, Ms. Matias and her staff held a presentation on the workings of HUD, which educated members on Biden Administration housing policies and achievements.

Following the presentation, Ms. Matias and her staff asked the audience a series of questions on a wide variety of issues related to how HUD and the business community can work together to build more affordable housing in the region. Additionally, Ms. Matias highlighted some of the resources that are available to New England Council members who are either working to develop more housing in the region or are impacted by the current housing crisis.

The Housing Working Group was established in February 2024 to bring together Council members from various sectors throughout the region to work collaboratively to address the housing shortages plaguing the region. You can learn more about the Housing Working Group here.

A recording of this meeting can be found here.
