MGH names new complex after Phillip and Susan Ragon
Massachusetts General Hospital, a New England Council member, received $200 million for the Ragon Institute of MGH, MIT, and Harvard. The InterSystems Corp. founders Phillip “Terry” and Susan Ragon gave MGH the largest gift in the hospital’s history to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Ragon Institute. The new complex will be named after the couple.
With a focus on HIV, the Ragon Institute researches immunology, disease prevention, and disease cures. The institute brings scientists and engineers together to reimagine scientific boundaries, innovations, ideas, and perspectives.
“This naming recognizes the extraordinary generosity of the Ragons, whose history of philanthropy through the Ragon Institute has already transformed the landscape of translational research in immunology to prevent and cure human disease,” the letter announcing the endowment said. “Their most recent gift will now transform the way we care for our patients during our third century.”
The New England Council commends Massachusetts General Hospital and the Ragons for their dedication and important research.
