Massport aims to have Logan Airport reach top five status among U.S. mega-airports

New England Council member, Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport), has outlined its initiative to become one of the top five mega airports in the United States. In 2024, Logan was ranked 10th out of 20 airports of a similar size.

Richard Davey, CEO of Massport, is spearheading the expansion campaign. He hopes “to be a top three-to-five mega-airport in the United States,” said Davey in a statement. While there is little room to expand terminal infrastructure, the airport is focused on upgrading the parking garage, a nearly $450 million renovation.

New England Council members, Delta Airlines and JetBlue Airlines, are the two largest airline carriers operating out of Boston Logan. Both are hoping to expand their international voyage services as the airport continues to grow.

The New England Council commends the Massachusetts Port Authority on this initiative.
