Gillette plans to redevelop its Fort Point World Shaving Headquarters

New England Council member, P&G Gillette, has filed plans with City Hall to redevelop its Fort Point campus.

About one-third of the new development will be dedicated to housing, while the rest will include offices, labs, and stores. The renovation’s goal, according to Gillette, is to create a lively mixed-use community and a distinct waterfront park. The renovation will give the public waterfront access, and Gillette is setting aside more than half of its acreage for open space. Benefits from the new project include the property being one of the largest waterfront parks on private land in Boston, turning an industrial property into a mixed-use community, creating new jobs and real estate taxes, and protecting the low-lying area against rising sea levels with green infrastructure.

“It is important to us that Gillette serve as a steward for the future of the place we have called our home for more than a century,” said Kara Buckley, Gillette’s vice president of community affairs.

The New England Council praises P&G Gillette for its innovative and community-oriented renovation plans.
