Free ASL translation app added in Manchester airport

New England Council member, Manchester-Boston Regional Airport, recently introduced the app, Aira, to assist deaf and hard-of-hearing travelers with American Sign Language (ASL) translation. The app provides free and remote translation for those who download the resource. The airport has also been utilizing Aira Explorer for several years now to assist blind and low-vision passengers.
Manchester-Boston Regional Airport is “proud to be the fourth airport in the country to make Aira ASL available for travellers,” said acting Airport Director Tom Malafronte, A.A.E. “By adding Aira ASL, MHT is expanding accessibility services and supporting our mission to enhance the travel experience for all our guests.” The app serves as an interpretation guide between individuals who are hard of hearing and those who are hearing.
The New England Council commends Manchester-Boston Regional Airport on this new, inclusive addition to its facilities.
