Energy Leaders Discuss Impact of Inflation Reduction Act

On October 28, 2022, The New England Council’s Energy & Environment Committee hosted a conversation focused on the Inflation Reduction Act and its impact on the New England economy. Moderated by Peter Howe, Senior Advisor at Denterlein, the panel included:

  • Dan Dolan, President,  New England Power Generators Association
  • Sheri Lauten, State & Federal Government Relations, National Grid Ventures & Community Offshore Wind
  • Maggie Lemmerman, Head of Federal Affairs, Ørsted
  • Beth Viola, Senior Policy Advisor, Holland & Knight
  • Rob Werner, New Hampshire State Director, League of Conservation Voters

The discussion focused in part on how the landmark legislation makes billions in investments to reduce carbon emissions and foster a transition to clean energy, while also lowering energy costs. Additionally, panelists discussed industry impacts, the challenges to implementation, as well as what additional steps they would like to see taken up by Congress.
