The College Board, a Council member, recently awarded $1 million to Class of 2021 high school seniors as part of its Complete Your Journey Opportunity Scholarship, a step-by-step program designed to help students pay and prepare for college. The organization selected 25 students from across the country to receive $40,000 each, a silver lining considering the remote learning, financial hardship, and school closures that dominated this year.

Since the launch of the Opportunity Scholarships program in December 2018, over 1 million students have joined, with nearly $25 million dedicated to helping graduating seniors.  In addition to the 25 recipients of the Complete Your Journey scholarship, nearly 4,000 additional students have been awarded smaller scholarships ranging from $500 – $2,000, amounting to a total of $3.6 million.

“This scholarship is for every student, no matter their background or what school they attend. It is about giving all students a chance to raise their hands and be seen. What unites them is that they have overcome adversity and taken a series of small steps to earn themselves a big future,” said College Board CEO David Coleman.

The New England Council is grateful to the College Board for its ongoing work to support students in their educational journey. Read more from PR News Wire and College Board’s press release.
