Brown University names new dean of the College

New England Council member, Brown University, has named Ethan Pollock as its new Dean. Pollock has been on the Brown faculty since 2006, teaching history and Slavic studies, and later served as chair of the College’s history department for five years, during which he led the creation of a postdoctoral program.
Pollock will not only oversee undergraduate students, deans, and staff, but will also serve as a member of the president’s cabinet, the president’s executive committee, and the provost’s leadership group, comprising senior academic deans. With the university’s research enterprise continuing to grow, Pollock will be responsible for curriculum development and advocating for expanded research opportunities for students.
“Ethan brings phenomenal perspective to this role, and his background and strengths will complement our other senior leaders’ expertise in engineering, biology and medicine, public health and the more quantitative social sciences,” Brown University Provost Francis J. Doyle III stated. “For nearly 20 years, he has embodied Brown’s mission and values through his teaching, research and effective leadership, driven by vision, energy and empathy.”
The New England Council congratulates Brown University and Dean Pollock on this exciting news.
