Berkshire Bank & Citizens Bank receive distinctions for company trustworthiness

Newsweek

New England Council members, Berkshire Bank and Citizens Bank, were recognized in Newsweek Magazine’s “Most Trustworthy Companies in America 2025” rankings this past week. For Berkshire Bank, this marks the fourth consecutive year it’s made the list—a testament to its consistent commitment to integrity and transparency. Ranked 18th in the Banks category, Berkshire was the only Massachusetts-based bank to earn the honor this year. Additionally, in Rhode Island, Providence-based Citizens Bank received the distinction of being the only Rhode Island bank on the list, ranking 16th in the Banks category.

The rankings, developed in collaboration between Newsweek and Statista Inc., honored 700 companies across 23 industries. The evaluation process initially analyzed 3,400 U.S. companies, utilizing a combination of survey data on customer, employee, and investor confidence, as well as social media posts.

“This recognition is a reflection of our values-driven culture and the commitment of Berkshire bankers to integrity, fairness, transparency and respect in every interaction. As a trusted adviser, we’re there to support our clients with expertise to help them navigate all economic environments and create a brighter future for all. We are delighted to receive this recognition for the fourth consecutive year and want to thank our customers for their continued trust in us,” said Nitin Mhatre, CEO of Berkshire Hills Bancorp, the parent company of Boston-based Berkshire Bank.

The New England Council congratulates Berkshire Bank and Citizens Bank for this significant accomplishment.
