Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology draws $1 million donation

Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology, a New England Council member, has recently announced a $1 million donation for Samuels & Associates, a Boston-based commercial real estate firm. This partnership will fund scholarships for select students, expanding access to life science studies and careers.

The new Franklin Cummings Tech scholarship will fund tuition and living expenses tailored toward students in the biotech program, which includes a wide range of subject areas. The scholarship will primarily aid students of color and first-generation college students. In addition, Samuels & Associates will link and connect students with mentorship and internship opportunities with partner companies to bolster community engagement.

“Students from the communities we serve have not historically seen themselves in biotech careers, nor have they had the resources or relationships necessary to pursue the training that assures they can be well positioned for these careers,” said Aisha Francis, President and CEO of Franklin Cummings Tech. “Samuels recognized a gap in terms of encouraging more greater Boston residents to pursue this field and providing them with additional financial support and direct connections to future employers. This meaningful funding commitment will help Franklin Cummings Tech more quickly advance its goal of creating a strong pipeline of talent via our biotechnology associate degree program,” she said.

The New England Council congratulates the Benjamin Franklin Cummings Institute of Technology for the launch of this initiative.
