New England Council member, American Airlines will begin regular direct flights from Portland, Maine’s Portland International Jetport to New York City’s LaGuardia Airport starting next year.

The new flight schedule features two daily flights to and from LaGuardia, including one morning and one afternoon flight. With the addition of LaGuardia, American will open its sixth nonstop destination from Portland, in addition to flights to Charlotte, Chicago, Dallas, Miami, and Washington, DC. The airline expects to begin operations for the new route starting June 5, 2024. Tickets are already available for purchase.

“American is excited to add new nonstop service from Portland International Jetport (PWM) to LaGuardia Airport (LGA) in New York City,” said Joe Sottile, American Airlines Director of Domestic Network Planning. “With service to six destinations across the U.S. from PWM next summer, American is thrilled to offer more access for travelers to see all that Portland has to offer while connecting local residents with convenient access to our comprehensive global network.”

The New England Council would like to commend American Airlines for expanding access to and from Portland.
