AARP Grants Five NH Organizations $35,000
NEC Member the has awarded $35,000 to five organizations in New Hampshire as part of its The 2021 Community Challenge grant. The award was granted to projects that will improve outdoor recreation areas and complimentary structures.
The five organizations are the Nature Conservancy, the Cross New Hampshire Adventure, Trail Regenerative Roots Association, the Town of Newport, and Great Bay Stewards. The Nature Conservancy received $20,000 to help continue building a park trail. Similarly, the Cross New Hampshire Adventure received $1500 to improve sections of the route from the Connecticut river up to Maine. The Trail Regenerative Roots Association received $2500 to help start a community farm in unused spaces. The Town of Newport received $3,649 to help improve the safety of their trails by adding signs and kiosks. Lastly, The Green Bay Steward in Greenland received $7,800 to create an accessible garden in the Great Bay Discovery Center.
The AARP New Hampshire State Director Todd Fahey stated, “We are incredibly proud to collaborate with these organizations as they work to make immediate improvements in their communities, encourage promising ideas and jumpstart long-term change, especially for those age 50 and over. . . Our goal is to support the efforts of our communities to be great places for people of all backgrounds, ages and abilities.”
