Signed this past week in the port of Khorfakkan, the memorandum expands New England Council member, Massachusetts Maritime’s reach into an important shipping hub in the United Arab Emirates as well as creating opportunity for students in the international maritime sector.

The agreement lays out a framework for cooperation in maritime education, training, research, and institutional development, such as joint initiatives in marine transportation, marine engineering, maritime business, logistics, and supply chain management, along with exchanges of faculty, staff, and undergraduate students.

“We’re excited to explore this expanded collaboration and provide even more opportunities and perspectives for our students as they consider their futures within the international maritime industry, while also offering similar possibilities to students at Sharjah Maritime Academy,” said Rear Admiral Francis McDonald, President of Massachusetts Maritime Academy.

The New England Council congratulates Massachusetts Maritime Academy and Sharjah Maritime Academy on the launch of a collaboration that will advance our students, the maritime industry, and the relationship between our two nations.
