Boeing, Google, and IBM Take Lead in Federal Quantum Development Initiative
The Trump administration recently announced that NEC members Boeing, Google, and IBM will be the leading companies in the push for quantum computing development.
The companies will be members of the steering committee for the Quantum Economic Development Consortium (QED-C), which will set standards for cybersecurity and assist in the drive for quantum computing research and development. The announcement of the steering group members follows a commitment of $1 billion in funding from the federal government for new research institutes that focus on artificial intelligence and quantum computing.
“Through the establishment of the QED-C steering committee, the Administration has reached yet another milestone delivering on the National Quantum Initiative and strengthening American leadership in quantum information science,” U.S. Chief Technology Officer Michael Kratsios said in a statement. “We look forward to the continued work of the QED-C and applaud this private-public model for advancing QIS research and innovation.”
The New England Council thanks Boeing, Google, and the IBM Corporation for their leadership in this important initiative. Read more from The Hill.
