700 employees at Berkshire Bank volunteered in their communities during the company’s ‘X Week’

New England Council member, Berkshire Bank, began the summer with a notable show of support for New England communities. During their “Xtraordinary Week,” or X Week, 700 Berkshire Bank employees volunteered their time to a variety of different projects.

From June 9th through 13th, employees volunteered at 31 different nonprofit organizations, most of which address homelessness and hunger in our communities. In Rhode Island, a group of Berkshire employees volunteered at the South County Habitat for Humanity, located in South Kingstown, RI, close to one of Berkshire’s leading financial centers.

The managing director of the Berkshire Bank Foundation, which is the community-service-oriented sector of the company, spoke about the positive impact of Berkshire’s X Week. Lori Kiely says, “Giving back is a core part of who we are as a company because we believe that lasting impact starts with local action.” She continued to say that “throughout X Week, our employees helped build stronger, more resilient communities – and stronger connections with one another.”

This achievement further enhances the history of community action and support by Berkshire Bank. In 2024, every single Berkshire employee volunteered in their communities, collected over 11,500 hours of service.  In addition to X Week, Berkshire Bank reports that “all Berkshire employees are eligible for up to 16 hours of paid time off annually to volunteer with nonprofits of their choice.”

The New England Council commends Berkshire Bank for its ongoing commitment to community involvement and support that extends well beyond typical business interactions.
