New England Council member, Framingham State University (FSU), has received a donation to its Danforth Art Museum and School, totaling nearly $5 million, its largest in the museum’s 50-year history. Susan Litowitz, a longtime supporter and advocate of the museum, made a donation.

Its funding is being used to tackle four objectives to further enhance existing programs in the museum: operations and programming, educational programming, marketing and community engagement, and adult art student financial aid.

FSU president Nancy Niemi spoke on how “institutions like Framingham State’s Danforth Art Museum and School play a vital role in enriching our communities, sparking creativity, and inspiring the next generation of artists and thinkers. We are so grateful to Susan for helping us preserve and expand access to the transformative power of art. The impact of this gift will touch so many in our community.” The Danforth Art Museum holds approximately 3,500 pieces of American art and offers nearly 500 annual workshops for studio art students throughout FSU.

The New England Council congratulates Framingham State University for receiving this donation.
