Drummond Woodsum names Bill Stockmeyer as new managing director

DRUMMOND WOODSUM

New England Council member, Drummond Woodsum, has recently named E. William (Bill) Stockmeyer as the Portland law firm’s new managing director. He will be succeeding George Dilworth, who will continue to practice law, focusing on commercial litigation and white-collar defense.

Stockmeyer began his career at Drummond Woodsum as a summer associate in 1985 and joined the firm as an attorney in 1986. Through his practice, he mainly advises schools, municipalities, and other local government entities on various financial and business matters. He is the leader of the firm’s public finance group and is rated AV, the highest rating awarded by the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Stockmeyer also serves on the board and finance committee of the Morrison Center, a Scarborough-based nonprofit that provides support services for people with developmental disabilities.

“Like many here, there’s a deep emotional connection with the firm,” Stockmeyer said in a news release. “Drummond Woodsum is about our people and our team approach to client service. Going forward, I believe we face important transitions, and I’m excited for this opportunity. I see it as a chance to capitalize on our growth, nurture our distinctive culture, and guide Drummond Woodsum into the next era.”

The New England Council would like to congratulate Bill Stockmeyer on this important new role.
