Triton Systems becomes first commercial company to use MITRE’s BlueTech Lab

MITRE

New England Council member, MITRE, recently announced that a team from the Massachusetts-based technology incubator and product developer, Triton Systems, Inc. has become the first commercial company to utilize MITRE’s new BlueTech Lab for testing. The lab is located at MITRE’s Bedford, MA. campus and was built to support the company’s expanding marine technology work. The lab contains a 620,000-gallon test tank that can be used to study communication and acoustic sensing uncrewed undersea and surface vehicles.

Triton Systems used the lab’s test tank to analyze the behavior of a small vehicle they are developing for a Department of Defense client. Angelica Cardona, an engineer from Triton, shared with MITRE that they were eager to use the lab due to its ample workspace and controlled atmosphere.

“Being here saves us so much time and money. Without this resource, we’d be dealing with the logistical burden of getting out to sea and testing in mucky waters,” said Cardona.

The New England Council commends MITRE for the innovative research being conducted in this facility.
