Emerson College chosen for new Boston Common beer garden stage
A performance stage for New England Council member, Emerson College, and a beer garden from Trillium Brewing will occupy a corner of Boston Common as the first of a wider plan from city officials to better activate the park.
Chosen from a public bidding process in January, the new beer garden, with a capacity of 400, will be the latest Boston expansion for Trillium, which has a restaurant and brewery in Fort Point and Fenway and a seasonal beer garden. Emerson’s performance space will span 5,000 square feet, with plans for local musicians, comedy shows, book readings and more. This attraction runs parallel with what Michelle Wu’s administration plans for an ambitious overhaul, the goal of making public parks more inclusive and accessible. The Emerson College UnCommon Stage and the Trillium Garden on the Common will open next Thursday and run through November 1st.
