Bose launches new audio technology for electric vehicles

https://www.bizjournals.com/boston/news/2017/11/06/it-s-official-bose-to-lease-big-office-at-boston.html

Last week, New England Council member, Bose, announced its new Audio electric vehicle sound enhancement technology that will make its debut in the General Motors 2022 Hummer EV pickup truck.

Bose’s EVSE technology uses an algorithm and data gathered from the vehicle to “mask undesirable noise produced by the electric propulsion system,” while also “generating distinct sounds for different drive modes.” According to Bose, the system also includes Bose Centerpoint digital signal processing for “enveloping surround sound in every seat” and Bose AudioPilot signal processing to “preserve the listening experience in all driving conditions.”

When discussing this technology, Peter Kosak, vice president and head of the Bose Automotive Systems Division, said, “Launching our newest sound solution in an awesome vehicle like the GMC Hummer EV is both thrilling and rewarding. Getting behind the wheel of this supertruck is simply jaw-dropping and we can’t wait for consumers to feel and hear what it’s like.” Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the GMC HUMMER EV, commented on the experience that this technology provides, stating “The GMC HUMMER EV offers sensory excitement along with incredible on- and off-road performance.”

The New England Council applauds Bose for its audio electric vehicle sound enhancement technology that will improve the driving experience for users of the General Motors 2022 Hummer EV pickup truck and beyond.
