NEC Calls on New England Delegation to Support Bill to Expand Substance Use Disorder Prevention and Treatment

On Tuesday, June 3, the New England Council sent a letter to the New England House Delegation in support of the reauthorization of H.R. 2483, the SUPPORT for Patients and Communities Reauthorization (SUPPORT) Act of 2025. The SUPPORT Act is a key component in addressing the mental and physical challenges facing the New England region, particularly given the escalation of the opioid crisis over the past decade.
As in years past, the Council is proud to support bipartisan efforts to reauthorize this key public health program focused on prevention, treatment, and recovery for patients with substance use disorder. It is the Council’s hope that Congress moves to reauthorize and/or expand upon the SUPPORT Act, which our members feel will remove barriers to lifesaving treatment for Americans at greatest risk of fatal overdose.
