NEC Urges FERC Commission to Prioritize Winter Reliability

On November 7, 2022, The New England Council’s Energy & Environment Committee submitted a comment letter to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regarding winter reliability in the region. The letter came in response to a FERC-hosted conference in Vermont earlier this year, which discussed the electricity and natural gas challenges facing New England. As part of that forum, FERC sought comments from stakeholders in the region.

Identified as a high priority by Energy & Environment committee members, the Council was eager to weigh in on the important issue and emphasize that without reliable and affordable energy, businesses cannot operate productively, hospitals and schools cannot provide essential services.

We are grateful to committee members for raising this important issue. For more information on the Council’s Energy & Environment Committee please contact Sean Malone.
