Legal Reform

The New England Council believes that reasonable reform can and should be achieved in several areas of our legal system. Currently, litigation costs born by the medical and business communities threaten to affect the number of doctors that choose to practice certain types of medicine and crowd out potential investments to create jobs and develop new products. In the area of asbestos liability reform, unless the current system is improved companies will continue to go bankrupt while those who are truly sick may not be justly compensated.

There has been a flurry of recent activity in Congress over three areas of legal reform – medical malpractice liability reform, class action reform, and asbestos liability reform – and the New England Council has been actively engaged in all three.
